The final book in the Daughter of Arden Trilogy

When Maleen arrives in Dranneth, she hopes to connect with loyal Ardeners so they can plan to retake Arden from King Gregor and Prince Melanor of Pandor. She’s determined to accomplish this on her own terms: she’ll continue to hide behind the safety of the Dragon Fever veil and remain dead to Crown Prince Jared of Dranneth. Dranneth has promised to protect Arden already; she doesn’t want to obligate them further, particularly Jared.

But the promise of Arden’s restoration proves difficult. The Arden nobles seem more concerned with regaining lost property than helping their conquered people.

Maleen’s most trusted friends, Marietta and Raff, are caught up in their own work. In addition to this, alarming events cause Maleen to wonder if she really came through Dragon Fever unscathed, and whether she is as safe from Melanor as she thinks. It doesn’t help that Jared, the man she rejected in favor of exile in the tower, seems to be the one person who truly understands her, even as she tries to hide. How can all this be part of the Mighty One’s plan?

Promise completes the Daughter of Arden Trilogy, following Exile and Wandering.

She’s been writing stories for most of her life and grasps the world, ideas, and God best when she has processed them through written words. Books have been her friends from an early age, starting with The Chronicles of Narnia and Little House on the Prairie. The fantasy of Lewis and the realism of Wilder, along with these authors’ characters and their relationships, have continued to be foundational influences in Loren’s writing. In more recent years, authors like Elizabeth Goudge, Mary Stewart, and Dorothy L. Sayers have shaped her writing style. Loren’s explorations of life and faith can be found on her Substack, Sun Shafts, and in her sporadic blog posts.
